- Sort through the berries, pulling off any stems and twigs. 2. Pour boiling water over the chokeberries, let them sit for just 4–5 minutes, then add the sugar and set over low heat. 3. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil and pull it off the heat. Let it rest for an hour, then repeat the process. 4. Cook the jam this way in three or four rounds.
