Fresh Lingonberry Mors
A bright ruby color and a great flavor with a touch of pleasant bitterness. Lingonberry mors is every bit as good for you as cranberry, but because of the berries' distinctive slightly bitter taste, it's not as popular. I tried all kinds of ratios of sugar, water, and berries, and this recipe gives the most balanced drink of all — the bitterness isn't too sharp, and there isn't too much sugar. (Mors is a traditional homemade berry drink.)
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Wash the lingonberries, pick them over, and pat them dry.
-
Step 2:
Puree the berries with a blender.
-
Step 3:
Press the puree through a sieve.
-
Step 4:
Cover the leftover pulp and skins with water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes. Strain the liquid.
-
Step 5:
Add the strained lingonberry juice and the sugar to the liquid. Bring to a boil and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
-
Step 6:
Let the mors steep, covered, for about 10 minutes, then pour into glasses.
