Step 1:
Classic Forshmak is made from herring with the addition of onion, butter, loaf, egg, sour apple, milk, salt and pepper.
Step 2:
Hard-boil an egg, soak a couple of slices of loaf in milk. Peel the egg and apples.
Step 3:
Put the prepared products into the bowl of the combine or meat grinder.
Step 4:
Add the herring.
Step 5:
Put the pressed loaf and grind until smooth. Mix with softened butter and cool.
Step 6:
Serve as an appetizer on sandwiches or toast.
Classic herring forshmak is a great snack, but it doesn't look very appetizing - so decorate it with greens or thin slices of bright vegetables.
