Turkish Delight with Peanuts

There are countless ways to make it; here I'm sharing a version made with milk.

  • Pour some of the milk into a saucepan, sift in the flour, and whisk thoroughly until smooth. Add the melted butter, pour in the rest of the milk, and whisk well again. Set the pan over the heat. When the mixture starts to come to a boil, lower the heat, add the sugar, and cook for about 5 minutes. A minute before it's done, stir in the gelatin (pre-soaked) and mix well. Let it cool slightly at room temperature, then fold in the peanut halves. Stir to combine and pour into a pan dusted with shredded coconut. Refrigerate. After 4–5 hours, turn out the candy and cut it into cubes. Turkish delight looks lovely and impressive, so it's perfect for dressing up any festive table.
