Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Boil the salad ingredients (potatoes, carrot, and eggs), then cool and peel them. Boil the beef. Setting aside a pickle, a piece of meat, and the yolks for decoration, cut the potatoes, carrot, egg whites, and meat into cubes. Dress the salad with mayonnaise, season with salt if needed, and mix.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Spread the salad on a platter, shaping it into the silhouette of a rooster.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

    Finely chop the egg yolks.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Sprinkle the salad with the yolks and gently smooth the surface with your hands or a spoon.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Cut the comb and wattles out of the bell pepper — scissors make this easy.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Place the pieces on the salad. If they won't stay put, use a dab of mayonnaise.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

The beak is a piece of beef; the eye is a ring of black olive.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

The feet are made of meat too. For the tail, use green onion, thinly sliced bell pepper, and slices of meat.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

The finishing touches: a wing from a slice of beef, olives for a collar, and a bed of parsley "grass," so the rooster lives well and sleeps soundly in the new year.

  • Enjoy, and Happy New Year!
