    Pour 2.5 liters (about 10 cups) of cold water into a large pot, set it on the stove, and add 700 g of cut-up beef short ribs, half an onion, and a piece of carrot.

    Set a skillet on the stove, add 3 to 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and add one finely chopped onion.
