Santa's Hat Salad
A tasty tuna salad for your holiday table! This Santa's Hat salad tastes even better when it's arranged in a fun, festive way. With its themed shape, it's a great choice for a New Year's or Christmas spread. The tuna salad is easy to put together, the layers pair beautifully, and it looks so bright and colorful on the table that it never goes unnoticed.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Prep the ingredients. Boil the potatoes and carrots in their skins, then cool and peel them. Hard-boil the eggs, cool them, separate the yolks from the whites, and grate each separately. Drain the tuna and mash it with a fork. Finely chop the onion, cover it with boiling water, let it sit for 3 minutes to draw out the sharpness, then drain.
-
Step 2:
Grate the potatoes on the coarse side of a box grater. Arrange them in the shape of a Santa hat.
-
Step 3:
Spread the potato layer with mayonnaise.
-
Step 4:
Top with a layer of the mashed tuna.
-
Step 5:
Spread with mayonnaise again, then add a layer of coarsely grated hard cheese.
-
Step 6:
Scatter over finely chopped pickle.
-
Step 7:
Sprinkle with grated yolk and the finely chopped onion, then spread with mayonnaise. If you love mayonnaise, feel free to spread a little over every layer.
-
Step 8:
Next, cover the body of the hat with a layer of coarsely grated boiled carrot.
-
Step 9:
Use the grated egg white for the brim and pompom of the hat. The salad is done — let it chill in the fridge for a couple of hours to soak, then serve it at your holiday table. Enjoy!
