Layered Vegetable "Cake" with Canned Pollock

Finger-licking good! A "cake" for true gourmets — simple and quick! This salad comes out beautifully tender thanks to the mayo blended with sour cream. It's a bit like the familiar "fur coat" salad, but less of a cliché on the holiday table.

  • Boil the vegetables and the eggs. Mix the canned fish with finely chopped onion and 1 tablespoon of mayo. Stir the rest of the mayo together with the sour cream. For the first layer, spread coarsely grated potato and coat it with the mayo-and-sour-cream sauce; then add the fish with onion, followed by grated cheese, carrot, egg white, and beet, soaking each layer well with sauce. Grate the yolk over the very top.
