Lean Fried Yeast Hand Pies in 15 Minutes
These dry-yeast hand pies are so tasty you won't manage to save any for dinner! And the fried lean version comes together fast. With a filling already made (any kind), it takes exactly 15 minutes from the moment you start the dough to the finished pies.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
In warm water,
-
Step 2:
dissolve the salt and sugar (I use brown sugar).
-
Step 3:
Add the sifted flour. Sprinkle the dry yeast over the top and stir it into the flour.
-
Step 4:
Knead the dough.
-
Step 5:
Add the vegetable oil and work it into the dough.
-
Step 6:
The dough will be a little softer than regular yeast dough.
-
Step 7:
Drizzle a little oil on the work surface and divide the dough into small balls.
-
Step 8:
Then flatten the balls into rounds, starting with the first one you shaped so the dough has had a little time to rest and rise.
-
Step 9:
Use any filling you like. Mine is boiled carrot and braised cabbage. Shred the cabbage, mix it with grated carrot, add the onion, and braise it all in vegetable oil until done. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Step 10:
Spoon the filling onto each round of dough.
-
Step 11:
Shape the pies.
-
Step 12:
And fry them in preheated vegetable oil.
-
Step 13:
As they fry, the lean cabbage yeast pies puff up.
-
Step 14:
Enjoy!
