"Orange" Immune-Boosting Mix

A vitamin-rich dried-fruit mix that's good for digestion! I love the color, the taste, the smell, how easy it is to make, and of course the effect. Well, what can I say — everyone's heard of, or tried, a mix like this and knows how well it boosts the immune system, but it's also delicious. My mom gave me a mix like this in the fall when I was a kid, and now I keep up the tradition, boosting my own kids' immunity and mood on cold days.

  • Sort through all the ingredients and remove any debris. Rinse the dried apricots, prunes, and raisins and pour boiling water over them, then let them dry. Run everything through a meat grinder along with the lemon (zest and seeds removed), mix, and put it in the refrigerator. Let it rest for three days, then it's ready to use. It's best to take one tablespoon on an empty stomach, once a day.
