Simple Canapés

Dress up your table with this original appetizer. The prettiest way to liven up a festive table — or even a perfectly ordinary lunch — is to make interesting, tasty canapés. This food comes together very quickly and, best of all, requires no outstanding culinary skills. I'd like to share one of my favorite recipes for simple canapés. The combination of oranges and bananas in this appetizer gives a simply magical taste and aroma.

  • First, cut a fresh baguette into thin slices. Carefully peel the oranges and bananas and cut them into pieces. Size the pieces to suit the skewers you plan to use. Thread the fruit and bread pieces onto the skewers alternately, always separating the fruit pieces with bread. When you're done, place the skewers in an oven preheated to 200°C and leave them until the bread dries out. Watch carefully so you don't over-dry the bread. While the bread and fruit dry in the oven, you'll have time to make the sauce for the canapés, which will make their flavor even brighter. To make the sauce, beat a cup of sour cream, a cup of granulated sugar, and a cup of vanilla sugar with a mixer. Add the sugar to the sour cream gradually and beat thoroughly so it dissolves better. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the seeds of a quarter pomegranate. And the sauce is ready! Now transfer the skewers from the oven to a plate, set the sauce beside them, and invite your guests to the table. Enjoy! Note: these simple canapés can also be made without baking in the oven, and you can use vegetables, sausage, ham, or cheese instead of fruit, as you like.
