Cooking method
In our country, such cabbage is also called blue. Not many people know how useful it is and unreasonably little it is prepared. Red cabbage has a denser and firmer structure, but it is not inferior in taste to white cabbage.
Today we will cook stewed red cabbage.
To reveal the taste and give our dish piquancy, we will add an apple, onion and spices to the cabbage.
Peel a medium-sized onion and cut it into thin half rings.
The apple should be taken small, with a sweet and sour taste. Peel from the core and cut into thin slices. The peel does not need to be removed.
To stew cabbage, you will need a frying pan with a thick bottom and a lid or a cauldron. A frying pan with a diameter of 22 cm is suitable for the amount of ingredients specified in the recipe.
Preheat the pan and melt the fat. When the fat has melted, add the onion and apple. Sprinkle with sugar and fry until the onion is soft.
Cut the cabbage into small strips and pour it into the pan. Sprinkle with vinegar to keep the color bright. Mix the cabbage with the apple and onion. Cover with a lid and leave to simmer.
After 10 minutes, salt, add spices. Mix everything well. If there is enough liquid in the cabbage, then cover with a lid and leave for another half hour. It also happens that the cabbage is too dry and there is very little liquid, then you can add half a glass of water.
In half an hour you need to try cabbage. If there are enough spices and salt and the cabbage is soft, pour wine on it. Mix well and leave it under the lid.
After 5 minutes, the stewed red cabbage is ready.
Serve this stewed red cabbage well with chicken, duck, pork, and it will also be very tasty with grilled sausages or sausages. Cabbage goes well with mashed potatoes.
I recommend everyone to cook and try this cabbage. This dish is sure to appeal to fans of cabbage and vegetable stews.
