Lavash Roll Appetizer with Herring Roe
This roll brings three flavors together as friends: creamy, the roe, and a note of olives. The combination of soft cream cheese with the salty, tangy herring roe is wonderful for snacking on alongside strong drinks — these lavash rolls go beautifully with vodka or unsweetened infusions.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Spread the lavash with cheese. I like to use the soft processed cheeses sold in plastic tubs.
-
Step 2:
Spread the roe thinly over the cheese. Scatter the olives, cut into thin rounds, on top.
-
Step 3:
Gently roll it up crosswise — without stretching the lavash, to avoid tearing it.
-
Step 4:
You can slice it right away; for this, use a very sharp knife with a thin blade. A dull knife will squeeze out the filling and ruin the look.
-
Step 5:
We sliced it cleanly — not a single egg of roe got smeared :)
-
Step 6:
Arrange the slices of the roll on a plate.
-
Step 7:
This appetizer holds up well all evening — nothing leaks out of the roll, and it looks beautiful! Enjoy!
