Quick Poured-Batter Cabbage Pie in a Slow Cooker

Why not treat the family to a tasty pie?! This one comes together fast and makes a terrific dinner. The fragrant sauerkraut filling, seasoned with nutmeg, gives the pie a little something special. Be sure to give it a try!

    1. Start with the filling: squeeze out the sauerkraut (you can rinse it first; I don't) and put it in a hot skillet with vegetable oil (or cook it in the slow cooker on the "Sauté" setting); add salt and grated nutmeg and stir. 2. Make the batter: crack the eggs into a deep bowl, add the sour cream, and mix; work in the regular and whole wheat flours along with the baking soda and salt; mix the batter with a mixer or whisk. 3. Grease the slow-cooker bowl with vegetable oil, pour in the batter, and spread the cabbage on top. Bake 45 minutes on the "Bake" program. Check for doneness and, if needed, bake another 15 minutes. 4. Carefully lift the finished pie out with a spatula, tilting the bowl. Cut it in half and fold one half over the other so the filling is tucked inside. Serve the pie and treat the people you love. Enjoy!
