Cooking method
-
Step 1:
- Dice the onion, tomato, and pepper. Heat a little vegetable oil and brown the ground meat for about 5 minutes over medium heat.
-
Step 2:
- Add the onion and cook another 5 minutes.
-
Step 3:
- Add the pepper and tomato and simmer until the vegetables are soft.
-
Step 4:
- Add the spices, water, tomato paste, garlic, and sugar. Simmer 5 more minutes. Your meat filling is ready!
-
Step 5:
- Get the buns ready. I use store-bought buns — you can find them at any supermarket now. Slice each bun in half. Spoon the meat filling onto the bottom half and set the top half over it. If you like, you can toast the cut sides in a dry skillet first.
- Today we're making budget Sloppy Joes. The filling for this sandwich is a saucy ground-meat mixture! The best part is that you can stir in whatever seasonings you love and make it as spicy as you can handle. It's a really tasty change from a typical burger — simple to make, and fast, too.
