An unusual salad for fish lovers — light and wholesome! You can make fish salads from both canned and smoked fish. While vacationing with friends in the Kaliningrad region, we tried this wonderful salad. I suggest you make a smoked mackerel salad following this recipe.

  • First take some pickled or brined cucumbers, whichever you prefer. Lift them out of the brine, pat them dry, and cut them into small cubes. Next, take the onion. Peel it and dice it too. Put it in a colander and pour boiling water over it — that way it won't taste too sharp. Put the onion and cucumbers in one bowl. Wash the sweet bell pepper; you can use either yellow or red. Remove the seeds and dice it. Add it to the salad bowl too. Take the smoked mackerel, remove the skin and bones, and cut it into pieces. Add the fish to the bowl with the rest of the salad. Salt the ingredients. Add a little mustard. Mix thoroughly and dress with mayonnaise. This smoked mackerel salad will dress up any festive table. Garnish it with herbs — a sprig of parsley, for example. Enjoy!
