"Men's Tears" Salad with Chicken, Mushrooms, and Korean-Style Carrots
Tasty, with a zesty kick and an unusual name! This layered "Men's Tears" salad with chicken, mushrooms, and Korean-style carrots will win over any food lover with its flavor. How could a dish like this make anyone cry, let alone a man? Only if the Korean carrots are way too spicy, maybe!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make "Men's Tears" salad? Gather the ingredients. I used fillet, but any part of the chicken will do. Green onion can be replaced with regular onion; if you like, scald it with boiling water to take off the harsh edge.
-
Step 2:
Wash the chicken. I salted the fillet lightly and baked it in foil in the oven. You can also boil the chicken in salted boiling water until done. Let the chicken cool.
-
Step 3:
Take the mushrooms out of the marinade and let the liquid drain. Cut the mushrooms into slices or small cubes.
-
Step 4:
Cut the cooled chicken into small cubes.
-
Step 5:
It's convenient to build the salad using a plating ring. I used the ring from an 18 cm springform pan. Set the ring on a flat plate and lay down the prepared chicken.
-
Step 6:
Brush the chicken layer with mayonnaise.
-
Step 7:
Wash the green onion, dry it well, and chop it finely. Scatter the green onion over the chicken layer.
-
Step 8:
Spread the chopped mushrooms evenly on top. Brush with mayonnaise.
-
Step 9:
Hard-boil the eggs ahead of time, for 8–9 minutes. Cover them with cold water to cool. Peel the eggs and grate them on a coarse grater.
-
Step 10:
Put the egg layer on top of the mushrooms and brush with mayonnaise.
-
Step 11:
Then add a layer of Korean-style carrots and dab on a little mayonnaise.
-
Step 12:
Grate the cheese on a fine grater.
-
Step 13:
Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top of the salad. Cover the salad with cling film and put it in the refrigerator so it sets and chills a little.
-
Step 14:
Remove the plating ring, garnish the salad with herbs if you like, and serve.
-
Step 15:
Enjoy!
- Always wash eggs before using them, since even a seemingly clean shell can carry harmful bacteria. It's best to use food-safe detergent and a brush.
- It's better to make the mayonnaise yourself. It'll be tastier and healthier. See some interesting homemade mayonnaise recipes here. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt as a dressing instead of mayonnaise. Use them on their own or mixed with mayonnaise in any proportion to taste — that lowers the calorie count of the dish.
