Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to cook compote from fresh fruits and berries? Prepare all ingredients. Wash berries and fruits well under running water. I have cranberries and apples, but you can choose a different set of products based on your preferences.
Step 2:
Cut the washed apples into slices, remove the core, then cut into thinner pieces. I do not remove the peel from the apples - with it, the compote will look brighter, more elegant.
Step 3:
Pour cold water into a saucepan, put the apples. I cook on one and a half liters of water, but you can increase or decrease this volume by adding or reducing the amount of fruit.
Step 4:
Put washed cranberries or any other berries in a saucepan with apples. Keep in mind that if your compote products are too acidic, then you will need to increase the volume of sugar or sweetener.
Step 5:
Add mint and cinnamon stick to the pan. If you don't like the flavor of these seasonings too much, replace them with any others. Or you can completely abandon such ingredients.
Step 6:
Bring the water to a boil, turn down the heat, add sugar and boil the compote over low heat for about 3 minutes. Let the compote brew under the lid for about 10 minutes. Cool it or serve it hot. Enjoy your meal!
Pears, quinces, plums, cherries, currants, gooseberries, raspberries, strawberries, peaches, nectarines and so on are also suitable for this compote. For additional sourness, you can add a slice of lemon to it along with the crust. Or a slice of orange, also with a peel. In the heat, the compote can be served with ice cubes. And they, in turn, can be replaced with grapes frozen in the freezer.
For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
Instead of sugar, you can use a sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment. You can also add natural honey, molasses, brown sugar, sugar or any other sweet syrup to the compote.
Since the degree of salinity, sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, acid, burning is individual for everyone, always add spices, spices and seasonings, focusing on your taste! If you put some of the seasonings for the first time, then keep in mind that there are spices that it is especially important not to shift (for example, chili pepper).
