Tartlets with Cheese and Caviar
Wonderful, simple, and tasty - quick to put together! Tartlets with cheese and caviar are a savory party appetizer in shortcrust pastry shells, perfect for a buffet or any other table. Bright, pretty, and bite-sized, they won't go unnoticed, yet they come together in literally 10 minutes.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make tartlets with cheese and caviar? Very simply. First, gather the ingredients you'll need. The recipe uses plain cream cheese, but you can also swap it for processed cream cheese. If you like, you can add a clove of garlic put through a press, or 1 tsp of granulated garlic, to the cream cheese. As well as chopped fresh dill or parsley.
-
Step 2:
If the tartlet shells are medium-sized, we'll need 10-12 of them. My filling came out to exactly 10 tartlets. If the shells are small, this amount of filling will be enough for 20-24 tartlets. You can buy the shells or make them yourself.
-
Step 3:
You can fill the shells with cheese using a regular spoon, but I put the cheese mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
-
Step 4:
On one half of each shell, pipe small rosettes of cream cheese with the piping bag.
-
Step 5:
On the other half, spoon on the red caviar with a teaspoon.
-
Step 6:
Garnish the tartlets of red caviar and cream cheese with fresh parsley or any other herbs to taste.
-
Step 7:
Serve the tartlets right away. The ideal drink to go with them is white wine or a martini. Enjoy!
- Since everyone's tolerance for salt, sweetness, bitterness, heat, acidity, and spice is different, always add spices and seasonings to your own taste! If you're using a seasoning for the first time, keep in mind that some are especially easy to overdo (chili pepper, for example).
- If you like, you can add a little cream of at least 33% fat to the cream cheese. Whip the cream until fluffy, but not for long, so it doesn't turn into butter. Then combine the whipped cream and cream cheese and whip everything together for literally 1 minute.
- If you have farmer's cheese and sour cream at home, you can make cream cheese from them. In that case there's no need to run to the store for ready-made cream cheese. Here are some recipes for homemade cream cheese.
