  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

To make the salad, wash the cucumbers and trim off the ends. Cut the cucumbers into strips. Put them in the bowl you'll make the salad in.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Cut the ham into slices, then cut those into strips too.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Add the sliced ham to the bowl with the cucumbers.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

    Peel the pre-boiled eggs.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Cut the eggs into small cubes and add them to the salad.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Grate the cheese on the coarse side of a grater right into the bowl.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Peel the apples and cut them in half. Remove the cores. Grate the apples on the coarse side of a grater and add them to the salad.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Rinse the lettuce leaves thoroughly and dry them. Cut them into large pieces or just tear them by hand. Then add the lettuce leaves to the salad bowl.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Dress the salad with mayonnaise and mix well. Put it in the refrigerator for a while to chill. Before serving, you can transfer the salad to a nice, fancy salad bowl or arrange it in individual portions. Enjoy!

  • Even though the salad is simple to make and the ingredients are the most ordinary, the result is a very interesting, light flavor. I think that's exactly what makes this salad so appealing. You can tweak or vary the flavor a little each time by swapping or adding ingredients. If you like, you can add fried button mushrooms, corn, onion, or tomatoes. A small change, and you end up with a new flavor. The finished salad has a very delicate taste, which fully lives up to its name. To make it delicate in looks as well as taste, you can layer the salad in a crystal salad bowl. All the ingredients pair very nicely with each other in flavor. If store-bought mayonnaise doesn't impress you, you can make your own at home or try replacing it with full-fat sour cream. The finished salad is best kept in the refrigerator and not for too long — just 1–2 days. Make it right before the gathering.
