  • You can make this mixed fruit jam any time of year, using whatever fruit is available. Here's my summer version. By the way, you can use any fruit and any berries. Wash all the fruit thoroughly. Peel and core the apples and pears. Peel the orange and lemon and remove the seeds. First, slice the pears thinly, cover with boiling water, and bring to a boil. Use that pear cooking liquid plus the sugar to make a sugar syrup. Add the plums to the syrup (pit them first). Then add the grapes (use a seedless variety, or remove the seeds), along with the apples and pears, and cook over low heat. Slice the lemon and orange thinly and bring them to a boil separately, then add them to the rest of the fruit and cook the jam until done, until the fruit turns translucent. Spoon the finished mixed jam, still hot, into clean, dry jars and seal with lids. I recommend storing the jam in a cool place.
