  • We start this delicious, healthy salad by prepping the ingredients, namely: — peel the red onion and cut it into small cubes; — wash and dry the tomatoes with paper towels, then cut them into cubes too; — wash the cucumber, dry it, and cut it into cubes about the same size as the tomatoes, though you can also slice it into rounds (or half-rounds — it depends on the size of the cucumbers and your preference); — wash the cilantro and spread it out on a towel to dry, then chop it finely; — dice the crab meat; — cut the avocado into the same-sized cubes as the other ingredients. What can I say about this salad? It's simple, uses a minimum of ingredients, and the flavor balance comes down to the proportions. The proportions here are spot-on, so it's worth sticking to the recommended amounts. For instance, too much onion will make the dish taste bitter, and too much lime will overpower the flavor of the crab meat. But of course you can experiment, adjusting the proportions to your taste! It's also important to follow the order in which the ingredients go into the salad so it doesn't turn to mush — that's why we add the soft ingredients last. So, everything's prepped and you can assemble the salad. It comes together quickly, so you can start looking forward to a tasty meal. And one more important point: the salad needs to be made right before serving. That way it'll be tastier and prettier, and it won't turn to mush. Put the onion cubes in a salad bowl, then add the chopped cucumber and tomatoes. Next, add the crab meat and avocado, add the chopped cilantro, season with salt, and stir everything very gently. Drizzle the salad with lime juice and... it's all ready! Serve the salad at the table. By the way, you can serve this salad with bread, spreading it onto slices — it'll be very tasty and a little more filling. And that's it — enjoy!
