Homemade Peanut Candy
It's easy to treat your family to delicious homemade candy! These come out really tasty — in texture, and even a little in flavor, they're like soft toffee, so don't expect them to turn hard after the fridge. If you like your candy sweeter, you can swap the dark chocolate entirely for milk chocolate. You can use other nuts with or instead of the peanuts — hazelnuts, almonds, or walnuts — or add dried fruit or crushed wafers for crunch. In short, let your imagination run wild! Store the candy in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
The ingredients you'll need.
-
Step 2:
Put the dulce de leche, milk and dark chocolate, and butter in a saucepan.
-
Step 3:
Set the saucepan over a water bath (the bottom of the pan shouldn't touch the boiling water!) and, stirring constantly, let the mixture melt and become smooth. Heads up! As soon as the chocolate starts to melt, stir vigorously so it doesn't overheat and go grainy! If the chocolate seems to be overheating, lift the pan off the water bath and stir hard.
-
Step 4:
Once melted, the mixture is very smooth and glossy, but quite thick. Add the roasted peanuts (you can swap in other nuts if you like).
-
Step 5:
Mixed thoroughly.
-
Step 6:
Line a mold with parchment paper. Spread the mixture into the prepared mold and smooth it out. Refrigerate until completely set.
-
Step 7:
Once set, the chocolate bar is soft and reminiscent of soft toffee.
-
Step 8:
Cut the chocolate bar into pieces and serve. Enjoy!
