Oatmeal porridge with caramel apples and almonds

Tired of boring oatmeal for breakfast, then decorate it in a new way!!! Such porridge for breakfast is a great start to the day! The porridge turns out to be very fragrant and tender. I like to cook oatmeal on a mixture of water and milk (this is how I generally do with any milk porridge), you can cook it either completely on water or on milk. I do not add sugar to the porridge itself, sweets are quite enough from apples and almonds. Sweet almond petals can be prepared in advance, so it will take even less time. You can not add cinnamon, if you don't like it, then you can replace it with vanilla sugar. But personally, I just love the combination of apples and cinnamon :)

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Let's do the sweet almond petals first. To do this , preheat the oven to 180 C.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

We fold the almond petals onto a sieve and moisten them under running water (we do this so that the powdered sugar can stick to the petals). Let the excess water drain.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Sprinkle the petals with powdered sugar and shake well so that the almonds are evenly covered with powder.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Spread on a baking sheet, distribute. We send it to the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Almonds should be slightly gilded. Be careful everyone has different ovens, it may take less time, make sure that the almonds do not burn!

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

While the almonds are in the oven, let's do our base.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Pour the oat flakes into a saucepan and fill with water. Bring to a boil.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Meanwhile, the almonds are already ready. It turned into a solid layer.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

We just have to break it into pieces.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

As soon as the oatmeal boils, pour milk, bring to a boil, turn it off and leave to infuse for 10 minutes.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

So, the petals are ready, the oatmeal is on the stove, there are apples left. Peel them, cut them (I cut them quite large) and sprinkle with lemon juice.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Melt the butter in a frying pan, spread the apples, sprinkle the apples with sugar and cinnamon and simmer lightly. The time depends on the size of the pieces and the desired softness, I stew for 2-3 minutes.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

We have everything ready, it remains only to assemble. We put oatmeal porridge on a plate, caramel apples on top and sprinkle with sweet almond petals. Bon appetit and have a good day!
