Homemade Shrimp Sauce
Quick, very simple, very easy, very tasty! You can make this homemade shrimp sauce in 5 minutes. No cooking - just mix the most basic ingredients, adding salt and spices to taste. Any seafood is even better with this sauce!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make homemade shrimp sauce? Prepare the shrimp first. You can use any: any size, peeled or not, cooked or raw - but by serving time they need to be cooked and peeled. I use unpeeled frozen (cooked) shrimp. They just need to be thawed and peeled, but you can also drop them into boiling salted water for a couple of minutes. Peel the cooked shrimp, removing the shell, tail, and vein.
-
Step 2:
I'll give you a few options for a tasty sauce. Sauce number one: light, fast, and simple. Get the ingredients ready. Use fresh sour cream, preferably 20% fat. Add salt to taste. Make the sauce by combining the ingredients and adding the salt gradually, tasting as you go.
-
Step 3:
Wash and dry the fresh dill, then chop it finely. Peel the garlic clove and put it through a press. In a deep bowl, combine the sour cream, chopped fresh dill, pressed garlic, and salt, and mix evenly.
-
Step 4:
Serve the finished sauce chilled. It's best to transfer it to a nice low gravy boat or small bowl. This is a light sauce that won't weigh down the meal. You can vary the amount of herbs, garlic, and salt to taste.
-
Step 5:
Sauce number two is a little heavier - not to make, but in richness. But I liked it better paired with shrimp. Its flavor will vary depending on the ketchup you choose. It also comes together in minutes. Get the ingredients ready: homemade mayonnaise and whatever ketchup you like. Wash and dry the herbs. Chop the fresh parsley and put the peeled garlic through a press.
-
Step 6:
In a deep bowl, mix the desired amount of ketchup, mayonnaise, chopped fresh parsley, and pressed garlic. Add salt and pepper if needed. Mix the sauce, transfer it to a nice low gravy boat or bowl, and serve it with the boiled shrimp.
- I've offered the simplest shrimp sauces, which are quick and easy to make at home. The shrimp and the sauce come together so fast that you can make them when "guests are at the door," as long as you have all the ingredients on hand.
- By the way, these sauces aren't just for shrimp. They're great with cutlets, pasta, chicken, and more. The white one makes a fine salad dressing too!
- It's best to make the mayonnaise yourself - it'll be tastier and better for you. See some great homemade mayonnaise recipes here. You can also use not just mayonnaise but sour cream or plain yogurt as the dressing - on their own or mixed with mayonnaise in any ratio you like, which lowers the calorie count.
