  • First, prep all the ingredients. You can use ready-made tartlet shells or bake your own. If you buy them, shortbread shells are better than wafer ones — they hold their shape better and the finished appetizer tastes better. Today we'll use ready-made shells.
  • Thaw the crab sticks and cut them into small cubes. Cut the hard cheese (any kind) into small cubes too. Try to cut all the ingredients to roughly the same size — that's what makes the finished dish look especially nice. Drain the syrup from the canned pineapple and finely dice it to match the cheese and crab sticks. Peel the garlic and mince it (use a fine grater, a press, or just chop it finely with a knife). Put the chopped crab sticks, cheese, and pineapple in a bowl, then add the minced garlic. Mix everything well and gently. Add the mayonnaise and stir well again. The tartlet filling is ready. Now for the most fun part: lay the tartlet shells out on your work surface, spoon in the prepared filling, and arrange them on a large, attractive platter. Garnish the finished tartlets with fresh herbs and serve. If the meal is for later, refrigerate the tartlets.
  • These tartlets work for a holiday or just when guests show up unexpectedly, since the appetizer comes together so quickly! Enjoy, and happy holidays!
