Oreo Milk Jelly
A luscious milk-based jelly dessert with tender cookie bits! Oreo milk jelly comes together in a flash — it takes just as long as it does to bring the milk to a boil, and you end up with a light, frothy jelly studded with pieces of chocolate cookie.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather all your ingredients. Use milk of any fat content, or swap in cream. Brown sugar can stand in for white and will give the dessert a deeper, more chocolatey look.
-
Step 2:
Stir the sugar into the milk and set it over the heat. Once the milk is warm, add the agar-agar and bring it to a boil. Cook, stirring, for a few minutes until the agar-agar fully dissolves. This is where agar-agar differs from gelatin, which must never be boiled.
-
Step 3:
While the milk heats and the agar-agar cooks, twist the cookies apart. Place the cream-filled halves cream-side down in silicone molds. Put the plain halves in a bag and crush them into crumbs with a rolling pin. Take the milk off the heat and let it cool to room temperature, then whisk it.
-
Step 4:
The milk will start to foam right away and form an airy cap. You can use a hand mixer instead of a whisk. Add the cookie crumbs and stir. Agar-agar jelly begins to set even at room temperature, so don't dawdle.
-
Step 5:
Pour into the molds and refrigerate. The jelly will set in 15 minutes. I got 8 molds of about 1.7 oz (50 ml) each. You can dig into that unforgettable milk-and-chocolate flavor right away.

- Gelatin-based jelly is good for your joints — it helps rebuild cartilage and protect the joints from various issues. Thanks to its collagen content, gelatin also benefits your nails and hair. Agar-agar jelly is just as worthwhile in its own way: it helps clear the body of toxins and supports healthy digestion. And because agar-agar comes from seaweed, it adds a dose of iodine, iron, and calcium to the mix.
