Snowdrift Salad
This salad comes out wonderfully tender and delicious, and it looks pretty and appetizing, too.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings.
-
Step 2:
Pour boiling water over the sliced onion, add the vinegar, salt, and sugar, and leave it to quick-pickle.
-
Step 3:
Rinse the chicken breast, pat it dry, and cut it into thin strips.
-
Step 4:
Heat a skillet, add the oil, and lay in the chicken. Fry until lightly golden, seasoning with salt and pepper as it cooks.
-
Step 5:
Transfer it out of the skillet and let it cool completely.
-
Step 6:
Rinse the mushrooms, trim them if needed, and cut them into wedges. If a mushroom is large, halve it first and then cut it into wedges.
-
Step 7:
Fry the mushrooms in oil until golden, seasoning with salt and pepper.
-
Step 8:
Transfer them out of the skillet and let them cool completely.
-
Step 9:
Grate the boiled potatoes on the coarse side of a box grater.
-
Step 10:
Carefully cut the eggs in half. Separate the yolks from the whites and set the yolks aside in a bowl.
-
Step 11:
Press the garlic into the yolks, add a little mayonnaise, and mix well.
-
Step 12:
Fill the egg-white halves with the yolk mixture.
-
Step 13:
Spread the meat over the bottom of a salad bowl. Top with an even layer of the pickled onion and spread with mayonnaise.
-
Step 14:
Next comes a layer of mushrooms and more mayonnaise.
-
Step 15:
Then a layer of potato, and mayonnaise again. Don't use too much mayonnaise — just enough to hold the layers together, not drown them.
-
Step 16:
Now arrange the stuffed egg whites on top like snowdrifts. You can even dust the whites themselves with a little cheese — it looks even nicer that way.
-
Step 17:
Sprinkle with finely grated cheese.
-
Step 18:
Garnish with pomegranate seeds and let the salad rest for a few hours so the flavors can meld.
