Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Put one bar of milk chocolate and the peanut butter in a deep, microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 90 seconds. Stop every 30 seconds to take it out and stir gently.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Prepare your pan. Disposable foil baking pans work really well here. Grease the bottom and sides with a little butter (cooking spray is ideal if you have it). Spread the chocolate over the bottom, smooth it out, and let it set — about half an hour on the counter, then move it to the fridge.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

For the nougat, melt the butter with the sugar in a skillet. Stir in the condensed milk and let it bubble gently for about 5 minutes, stirring now and then. Add the peanut butter, the marshmallows (warm them briefly in the microwave first), and the vanilla. Take it off the heat and mix everything together well.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Spread it in an even layer over the chocolate and again let it set, about 1½ hours.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Make the caramel: put ½ cup sugar and 2 tablespoons of water in a pan over the heat and cook until the mixture starts to thicken and turn amber. Transfer the caramel to a small saucepan along with the cream and warm it over low heat for about 7 minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Pour it over and let it set for an hour to an hour and a half. The final layer is chocolate — repeat the process from step 1.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Once it's fully set, you'll have a real beauty. All that's left is to cut it into bars and serve. Enjoy!
