- Rinse the dried mushrooms well and cover them with hot water to soak. Rinse the rice. 2. Peel the vegetables. Cut the onion and carrot into thin strips. 3. Heat the oil in a deep skillet. Add the onion and carrot and sauté over high heat for 3 minutes. 4. Add the rice and stir. Lower the heat, then add the mushrooms along with their soaking water. Pour in enough boiling water to cover the rice by about 1/4 inch (5 mm). Add the herbs, salt, and pepper, and stir everything well. 5. Cover the skillet and let it cook over low heat for 30–40 minutes. And it's done. Enjoy!
