- Grate the potatoes and a white onion on the fine side of a grater. Strain the mixture through a sieve, season with salt and pepper, then add an egg and a little flour.
- Fry the potato buns in a skillet in vegetable oil. To do this, set two cooking rings in the pan, fill them with the potato mixture, and fry until partly cooked.
- Then transfer them to a baking sheet and finish them in the oven. For the patties, slap the ground beef against the counter a few times so it holds together well. Shape it into thin patties and fry them on both sides until cooked through. Slice the tomatoes into rounds. Slice the red onion into rings, cook it lightly, then add sugar and caramelize it. Dice the pickles. Cut the bright-yellow cheddar into squares. Now assemble the bulba burgers: first spread a little sour cream on the potato buns. Top with a lettuce leaf, two overlapping tomato rounds, then the patty, ketchup, pickles, onion rings, and cheese. Spread cheese sauce on the remaining potato buns and set them on top, sauce side down. Warm the burgers in the oven or microwave so the cheese melts.
