Soy Burgers
Minimal calories, maximum goodness! These soy-crumble patties are tasty, wholesome, hearty, and light all at once. A great option for anyone who loves soy meat or, for whatever reason, doesn't eat animal meat. This is a basic recipe — feel free to add flaxseed, instant mashed potato flakes, pea or buckwheat flakes, or vegetables. The best part is that they're low in calories and big on nutrition.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Combine the soy crumbles, powdered creamer, rolled oats, flaxseed meal, salt, and spices in a bowl and pour in warm boiled water. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes to swell.
-
Step 2:
Shape the mixture into small patties. Coat each one all over in bran. I use wheat bran for the coating — it gives the patties an appetizing golden color and a nutty, grainy flavor.
-
Step 3:
Fry on both sides in vegetable oil until golden brown.
-
Step 4:
Transfer the finished patties to a paper towel to blot off the excess oil.
-
Step 5:
If you like, mix in extras to taste: flaxseed, instant mashed potato flakes, or pea or buckwheat flakes. Enjoy!
