- Heat a skillet with the vegetable oil. 2. Add the slices of bread and fry on both sides until golden and crisp. 3. Transfer the toasts to a paper towel to blot off any excess oil. 4. Season the toasts with salt and rub each one with a cut clove of garlic. 5. Spread with mayonnaise. 6. Open the can of sprats and lift them out of the oil onto a plate. Slice the dill pickle into rounds. Peel the hard-boiled egg and cut it in half. Grate the cheese on the fine side of a box grater. 7. Assemble the toasts: Option 1 — a pickle round + half an egg + sprats; Option 2 — sprats + grated cheese; Option 3 — sprats + Korean-style carrots. Feel free to mix and match the toppings however you like — everything here pairs well together. Enjoy!
