  • Anyone who loves meat, kebabs, and cooking outdoors over a grill or open fire—along with that smoky aroma and flavor—will love this recipe. Grilling is simple, and the results usually beat all expectations: tasty, juicy, with a smell that practically draws the neighbors over. :) These ribs are best cooked outdoors, but an indoor electric grill works too—just as tasty, if a bit less atmospheric. Here's how it goes: rinse the ribs under running water and pat them dry with paper towels. Rub them all over with plenty of ground black pepper and salt. Add other spices if you like—ground ginger, coriander, and nutmeg all work well; go with your own taste. Place the ribs on the grate of a grill preheated to medium. Cook for 1½–2 hours, until fully done. About half an hour before they're ready, stir together the onion powder, soy sauce, liquid honey, and tomato sauce in a bowl and let it sit for 15 minutes. Brush a thin layer of the glaze over the ribs and cook them the rest of the way. Serve the ribs hot with the sauce. Round out the plate with a side—boiled or roasted potatoes, fresh vegetables, or a salad. Fresh herbs are a perfect finish; cilantro, basil, or a few sprigs of rosemary or thyme look especially nice, or just scatter on some dill or parsley. And, of course, cold drinks won't go amiss, especially in warm weather. Enjoy your time outdoors!
