  • Chinese cuisine is famous for its seafood dishes, so Shanghai-style shrimp makes a wonderful appetizer for any special occasion — or just for when you feel like treating yourself. The soy sauce, a staple of Chinese and other Southeast Asian cooking, gives the dish its distinctive flavor. This recipe is very easy to make, and all the ingredients are easy to find at any store.
  • Start by breaking the cauliflower into florets, halving the mushrooms, slicing the pepper into rings, and dicing the onion. Pour oil into a hot pan and, stirring constantly, sauté the shrimp, then add the cauliflower, pepper, mushrooms, and onion. Next, add salt, sugar, pepper, soy sauce, and garlic to the oil left in the pan, along with the cornstarch dissolved in cold water. Let the shrimp simmer in this sauce for another 10 minutes, and your Chinese-style dish is ready to serve.
