Cooking method

Cooking time: 1 h 20 min

To prepare this delicious oriental dessert, you need to purchase kataifi dough, which is a thin thread of unleavened dough. Such dough is usually sold in large stores or it can be ordered online.

In addition to the dough, we prepare all the other ingredients. Butter is melted using a microwave oven or on the stove. Pistachios need unsalted - chop them. Mozzarella, and ideally you need to take goat cheese, but this is not always possible, three on a grater or cut into thin plates. Cheese, of course, should not be pickled. Squeeze the juice from the pre-washed lemon.

So, turn on the oven to warm up to 180 degrees Celsius and start cooking. To do this, we will need a baking dish. It is better to take a round one. The dessert itself will be about three to four centimeters high. Accordingly, the shape should be large enough. Lubricate the mold with butter with a brush, we do not regret the oil.

In a greased form, we spread a layer of dough. The dough can be cut into pieces or crumbled. The layer should be approximately 1 cm thick. Generously lubricate the dough with butter, sprinkle with grated cheese (or spread a layer of cheese plates). On the cheese - again a layer of dough of the same thickness, lubricate it with melted butter. Sprinkle with cheese again, on the cheese - dough. Repeat the layers until we reach a dessert height of 4 cm. Higher is not necessary, otherwise there is a chance that it will not bake.

The last layer is made of dough. Smooth it from above, slightly flattening it with your hand. And we put it in the oven that has already managed to warm up for half an hour. Dessert should be nicely browned.

While the future dessert is being baked, we will prepare sugar syrup. To do this, pour the water into a small saucepan, which we put on a high heat. When the water boils, pour sugar into it, add a pinch of saffron (if desired, it will make the color of the syrup more beautiful). Reduce the heat and stir the syrup until all the sugar crystals dissolve. Pour lemon juice. Cook the syrup for fifteen minutes.

When the dessert is baked, we remove the mold with it from the oven. Pour the kunefe on top with cooked hot syrup. An important moment! It is not necessary to pour out all the syrup at once, since the dessert should be soaked in it, but at the same time there should not be an excess of syrup. That is, it is not necessary for it to float in syrup.

Sprinkle the kunef with chopped pistachios and serve to the table until the treat has cooled down. It's very tasty! You can complement the dessert with a ball of ice cream.

Bon appetit!
