Squid and Chicken Salad
An unexpected pairing of squid and chicken with a delightful result. A wonderful salad! It comes together fairly quickly and easily, and it's great chilled. Chicken and squid complement each other beautifully, creating a one-of-a-kind flavor. The salad is tasty and filling. Men will love it for those very qualities, and the ladies won't be able to resist it either, trust me! I won't go on listing its virtues — just try it for yourself!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
The ingredients you'll need for chicken and squid salad. The chicken breast and squid are already boiled and cooled.
-
Step 2:
Peel the hard-boiled eggs and cut them into large cubes.
-
Step 3:
Slice the large onion into thin half-moons.
-
Step 4:
Sprinkle the sliced onion with the sugar and a splash of vinegar. Work it with your hands and squeeze it out. Drain off the liquid that forms — it carries the onion's sharpness.
-
Step 5:
Cut the cooled chicken breast (boiled until done with salt and spices of your choice — I used black peppercorns and a bay leaf) into medium cubes.
-
Step 6:
Cut the cooled squid (boiled briefly — no more than 2 minutes after the water returns to a boil, or it turns rubbery!) into strips on the diagonal.
-
Step 7:
Combine all the prepared ingredients, season with salt and pepper, and dress with mayonnaise to taste. I also added a little finely chopped dill (don't overdo it).
-
Step 8:
Mound the finished salad on a flat platter into a dome and garnish with lettuce leaves, thin lemon slices, and pomegranate seeds — or however your imagination leads you! Voilà — your squid and chicken salad is ready. Invite your guests, and tuck this temptation away in the fridge until they arrive.
