Cornmeal Porridge Made with Water

Treat yourself to a fancy breakfast and start the day off right. Say what you will, but how you eat breakfast is how you'll spend the day :) So I suggest making a really tasty cornmeal porridge with water for breakfast. Just because it's cooked without milk doesn't mean it's bland — see for yourself ;)

    1. Pour the water into a saucepan and set it over the heat.
    1. When the water boils, add the salt and the rinsed corn grits.
    1. Cook over low heat until the porridge starts to thicken (once it does, I recommend whisking it to keep lumps from forming).
    1. Take it off the heat, add the honey, and stir.
    1. Peel the apple, core it, and cut the flesh into small sticks.
    1. Melt the butter in a skillet over low heat, add the brown sugar and a little cinnamon.
    1. Add the prepped apple to the mixture and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Serve the porridge topped with the caramelized apple and a garnish of fresh mint. Enjoy!
