  • Lots of people love adding prunes to salads. It's hard to picture an almost-sweet fruit in a salad, yet it's exactly what gives the dish its zing. Sort and rinse the prunes, then cover them with cold water and simmer gently until soft. Once they've cooled, pit them and cut them into thin strips. Cut the chicken meat, cucumbers, and eggs into thin strips the same way. You probably have some pretty glasses on hand — use one per guest and layer all the ingredients into each: chicken, eggs, cucumbers, and prunes. Drizzle it all attractively with the sour cream and mayonnaise, then top with nuts and finely chopped herbs.
