Stuffed Blini Roll-Ups
An original way to serve blini — pretty and elegant! These Russian-style blini roll-ups make a wonderful appetizer, perfect for a buffet or any gathering. Savory and lightly salty, these little pancake canapés look great on a party spread alongside your other bites.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
First make the blini using mayonnaise in the batter — link in the description below the steps. It's a very simple recipe you'll have no trouble with.
-
Step 2:
Next, gather everything you'll need to fill the blini before rolling them up. You'll want boiled potatoes — peel them and cook in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes. Cutting them into 2–3 pieces speeds things up. Let the cooked potatoes cool.
-
Step 3:
Make the filling. In a deep bowl, combine the cream cheese with the mustard.
-
Step 4:
Stir to combine. Grate the boiled potatoes on the fine side. Cut the fish into thin strips.
-
Step 5:
Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture over a blini.
-
Step 6:
Scatter the grated potato on top.
-
Step 7:
Season with salt and pepper, spreading it evenly over the blini while you press the potato down firmly with a fork.
-
Step 8:
Lay the fish along one edge of the blini.
-
Step 9:
Down the center of the fish, add the green onion and red caviar.
-
Step 10:
Roll the blini up tightly and chill in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.
-
Step 11:
Trim off the uneven ends, then cut the roll into bite-sized canapés and tie each one with a blade of green onion. Ready to serve! Now you know how to make stuffed blini roll-ups!
- Use the mayonnaise-batter blini from step 1 of the recipe. This appetizer looks stylish and elegant. Plain blini won't wow anyone, but this version is sure to delight. And once your guests taste the filling — tender cream cheese with mustard, salmon, and red caviar — they'll really appreciate it. These canapés taste absolutely incredible! The first time I made them, I knew right away they'd become a favorite. You can stand the roll-ups upright on a platter or lay them flat, and either way you can top them with a few extra caviar pearls and some fresh herbs.
