Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Want a quick, easy, delicious Mimosa salad with saury and tuna for a party that everyone will love? Start by gathering all your ingredients and spices for this delicate layered salad.
-
Step 2:
Hard-boil 5 eggs, then finely grate the whites and yolks separately into deep plates.
-
Step 3:
Finely dice 2 small apples and put them in a small bowl, then drizzle with lemon juice for flavor and to keep them from browning. Coarsely grate one pre-boiled carrot into a plate.
-
Step 4:
Coarsely grate 3 pre-boiled potatoes into a deep bowl.
-
Step 5:
Finely chop half an onion and put it in a small bowl, then cover it with boiling water and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes to mellow the sharpness.
-
Step 6:
Put 180 g of mayonnaise into a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off). Toss the grated potatoes with a little of the mayonnaise, season with salt and ground black pepper to taste, and mix well.
-
Step 7:
In a deep bowl, combine 210 g of canned saury and 185 g of canned tuna, then mash the fish well with a fork and mix.
-
Step 8:
Drain the chopped onion in a fine strainer and rinse it under cold water, then add it to the fish and mix everything well.
-
Step 9:
On a dish of the right diameter, spread the potatoes as the first even layer, then top with the fish, spreading it evenly.
-
Step 10:
Pipe a thin mayonnaise lattice over the fish layer.
-
Step 11:
Mix the grated carrot into the bowl of diced apple, then spread this apple-carrot mixture as the next even layer, pressing the apples down gently with a fork so they hold together.
-
Step 12:
Pipe another thin mayonnaise lattice over the apple-carrot layer.
-
Step 13:
Add a layer of the grated egg whites, spreading them evenly over the top and sides of the salad.
-
Step 14:
Pipe another thin mayonnaise lattice over the egg-white layer.
-
Step 15:
Using a fine grater, grate 70 g of well-chilled butter and 50 g of hard cheese (any kind you like) over the top of the salad, alternating between them.
-
Step 16:
Decorate the sides of the layered salad with grated egg yolk.
-
Step 17:
Garnish the top with finely chopped fresh herbs to taste.
-
Step 18:
