Salad with String Cheese and Tomatoes

A zesty salad for anyone who isn't afraid to experiment! Sometimes recipes for new salads come about completely on the fly. All it takes is combining a few more-or-less compatible things from the fridge in one bowl. That's exactly how the idea once came up to add hearty smoked cheese to light vegetables. The result was something completely new and incredibly delicious!

  • Cut the prepared vegetables into matchsticks: the cucumber and the firm part of the tomato — its outer flesh (the inner pulp releases juice we don't want, so it's better not to use it for this salad). For a nice presentation, cut the string cheese into strips the same size as the vegetables. Add the cheese to the salad bowl with the tomato and cucumber. Chop a bunch of your chosen herbs and add them to the bowl with the other ingredients. Canned peas make a nice finishing touch, adding a mellow note to the cheese's savory flavor. At the end, dress the salad with mayonnaise (or sour cream) and salt to taste. Once you've tossed it, you'll definitely be pleased with its bright, inviting look. Surprise others and be surprised yourself! Enjoy!
