Cooking method

Cooking time: 15 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Gather the ingredients for the fruit-and-berry canapés: apples, strawberries, gooseberries, sweet cherries, raspberries, currants. The key is for the berries and fruit to be bright and colorful. You can change the amount and mix of fruit and berries to suit the kids' tastes. Wash the fruit and berries thoroughly, drain them in a colander or on paper towels, and let them dry well.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

It's best to use a firm apple so the canapé skewers stay put in its flesh for a good while. Instead of an apple, you can use a firm pear, which you can creatively shape into a hedgehog — the tapered end of the pear looks like its nose. Cut the apple in half. Place one half cut-side down on a plate.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Cut the other half of the apple into small cubes; if you like, you can peel the apple first so the treat tastes more delicate.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Thread the berries and fruit onto skewers, alternating and mixing them up so the canapés come out colorful and original. You can arrange the remaining fruit and berries around the apple half to fill out the platter.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Stick the fruit-and-berry skewers into the whole apple half, leaving some space between them. If you're hosting a lot of kids, you can make several of these sweet snacks. It's best to make this treat right before serving — its simplicity and speed make that easy. Otherwise the apple may darken and the other fruit and berries may dry out and lose their pretty, appetizing look.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Serve the fruit-and-berry dessert at the kids' birthday party. The children will be thrilled. Enjoy!

  • Of course, all kids love sweets, fruit, and berries, but these treats should be not only tasty but also bright, colorful, and presented in a fun way. In summer, for example, you can make a very quick sweet snack for kids in the form of fruit-and-berry canapés, arranging them as a hedgehog or a little berry meadow.
