    1. All the ingredients are layered, spreading mayonnaise between each new layer. Try to shape the salad like a turtle's body. Set one boiled egg aside whole. 2. Boil the eggs, cool them, and peel. For the first layer, grate only the whites. 3. You can use any good-quality canned fish packed in oil. Mash the fish with a fork and spread it evenly over the egg whites. 4. Peel and finely chop the onion; you can quick-pickle it to mellow its sharpness. 5. Grate the cheese (hard varieties work best) and spread it in a layer over the onion. 6. Use a sweet-tart apple: grate it on the coarse side of a box grater and spread it evenly as the next layer. 7. Next comes a layer of grated egg yolks. 8. Soak the prunes in hot water, then rinse, pat dry, and chop. Spread them over the yolks. 9. Decorate the salad with walnuts and shape the reserved egg into the turtle's head.
