Grilled Burgers
Juicy, flavorful burgers with that irresistible smoky, over-the-fire taste! You can cook these on any grill — electric, charcoal, or gas — or in a skillet or over open coals. Treat the people you love to a great homemade burger!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make the most flavorful burger on the grill? Start by getting everything ready. Pick up a pack of burger buns at the store.
-
Step 2:
Since the burgers cook in just a few minutes, I recommend prepping the vegetables and cheese ahead of time. Rinse the tomatoes and lettuce and pat them dry with paper towels. Peel the onion and cut it into thin half-moons or rings. Slice the tomatoes and pickles into thin rounds.
-
Step 3:
I used store-bought frozen burger patties, but you can absolutely make your own. Use ground beef or a mix of ground meats. Season it with your favorite spices, a little salt, and some very finely chopped onion if you like. Shape into flat, round patties.
-
Step 4:
Light a fire in the grill. Wait until it burns down and you're left with good, glowing coals.
-
Step 5:
While the fire settles, slice the burger buns in half.
-
Step 6:
Place the patties on a clean grill grate that you've lightly oiled beforehand.
-
Step 7:
How long do you grill the patties? It depends on the heat and how thick they are. Grill them until cooked through.
-
Step 8:
Flip the patties and keep an eye on them so they don't scorch. Just remember: if you leave them over the coals too long, they'll dry out.
-
Step 9:
Set the buns on the grate for just a few seconds. You can flip them and toast the other side too.
-
Step 10:
All that's left is to build the burgers. Kids love pitching in here, piling on their favorite toppings and sauces.
-
Step 11:
Spread a little mayonnaise on the bottom bun. Add a lettuce leaf, then the patty, cheese, onion, pickles, and tomatoes. Spread a little ketchup on the top bun and set it in place.
-
Step 12:
You can use just ketchup and lay the lettuce over the cheese instead. Stack the ingredients in whatever order suits your taste.
-
Step 13:
To melt the cheese a bit, flip the finished patty, lay the cheese right on top, and leave it over the coals for a few seconds. The heat of the patty melts the cheese slightly, which makes the burger even better.
-
Step 14:
Serve while the patty is still hot. So fragrant and delicious!
- One of those treats that grown-ups and kids love alike. Make it outdoors at a picnic, where everyone — even the little ones — can join in. Give it a try!
- Enjoy!
