  • Rinse the strawberries, pat them dry, and trim off the leafy tops. Depending on their size, cut them in half or leave them whole. Peel the bananas, cut them in half, and arrange two halves on each dessert plate. Heat the sugar over low heat, stirring, until it melts. Keep heating it until it turns golden brown. Take it off the heat and stir in the butter a little at a time, mixing continuously, until you have a smooth, creamy caramel sauce. Drizzle the caramel over the bananas and arrange the strawberries on top. Garnish the dessert with almonds, walnuts, chocolate shavings, mint leaves, or any other nuts and toppings you like.
